Jen Abel said, \u201cI see my conservative evangelical friends lamenting the shrinking of their churches and whispering prayer requests for those who aren\u2019t \u201cwalking with the Lord\u201d any more. Hashtag \u201cexvangelical\u201d is trending on Twitter. There\u2019s an entire corner of TikTok with videos about deconstructing faith or coming out of fundamentalism. Clearly, this is a hot topic in Christianity right now.\u201d <\/p>\n

What is fundamentalism?<\/strong>– a form of a religion, especially Islam or Protestant Christianity, that upholds belief in the strict, literal interpretation of scripture.<\/p>\n

What is Legalism?<\/strong>– The word \u201clegalism\u201d does not occur in the Bible. \u201cAccept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters\u201d (Romans 14:1). Sadly, there are those who feel so strongly about non-essential doctrines that they will run others out of their fellowship, not even allowing the expression of another viewpoint.

\nColossians 2:20-23<\/strong> \u201cSince you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: \u2018Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!\u2019? These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.\u201d <\/p>\n

Legalists may appear to be righteous and spiritual, but legalism ultimately fails to accomplish God\u2019s purposes because it is an outward performance instead of an inward change.<\/p>\n

What is Christian nationalism, and how is it different from Christianity?<\/strong> Christian nationalism is the belief that the American nation is defined by Christianity, and that the government should take active steps to keep it that way.
